Project Enhancement Program

In order to insure that our investments are consistent with our socially responsible investment philosophy, our Community Investment Initiative contains a Project Enhancement Program component. The Project Enhancement Program is a project-specific strategy designed to ensure that each project fulfills established socio-economic goals. This program begins with the Initial Project Evaluation, for which SDCC rates each project based on five major criteria and their goals: Geography, Affordability and Smart Growth, Community Revitalization, Relocation and Gentrification, and Local Job Opportunities.
A Project Enhancement Plan is developed which is a voluntary, project-specific agreement that generates a specific strategy to achieve mutually agreed-upon socio-economic goals. The goal of each Plan is to build upon socio-economic goals not yet met to ensure that every project promotes smart growth, produces quality employment opportunities, and revitalizes communities. This plan will hold the developer and SDCC accountable for fulfilling each fund's social bottom line, and will also identify which projects and efforts are most successful, as well as the changes necessary for improvement.
