The San Diego Smart Growth Fund is a $90 million real estate private equity fund investing in urban residential, mixed use, and commercial properties targeting middle-income households in greater San Diego. The fund provides equity capital to third-party developers for the development of for-sale and rental properties, residential based mixed-use projects and community revitalizing commercial development in urban infill sites in communities throughout the San Diego area.
The San Diego Capital Collaborative is the Fund Sponsor initially created by the San Diego City and County Reinvestment Task Force. SDCC's mission is to facilitate private capital investment in San Diego's low and moderate income communities utilizing a socially responsible investment strategy.
The Fund is managed by Phoenix Realty Group, a private real estate company. PRG manages equity funds to invest in urban residential development nationwide. Phoenix is an experienced real estate private equity fund manager providing institutional capital to urban housing developers. Phoenix and its principals have raised and invested $4.7 billion in $10 billion worth of real estate, including investments in over 1,000 properties nationwide.
